The University of Houston recently held its spring graduation ceremony, where 6,655 degrees were conferred to undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional students.

The Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine also celebrated its first graduates during this ceremony.

The university has a student population of 47,000, and among its graduates was Andrea Martinez, a double major in marketing and management who earned her Bachelor’s degree.

She was actively involved in extracurricular activities and served as president of the Hispanic Business Student Association at the College of Business.

Joan Carranza graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and Adrian Martinez earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management during the ceremonies held for undergraduate and graduate candidates at the Cullen College of Engineering.

In addition, Sul Ross State University held its Spring Commencement Ceremony on May 10 to celebrate and honor the graduating class of 2024.

Judge Baldemar Garza, a Sul Ross State University alumnus, delivered the keynote address during the ceremony, which was held in two different locations.

One ceremony was held in Alpine on Friday, May 10 and another was held in Eagle Pass on Saturday, May 11 at the International Center for Trade.

Furthermore, the university was featured in an American Association of State Colleges and Universities publication for its multidisciplinary approach to building a pipeline of teachers from underrepresented populations in STEM disciplines.

Sul Ross State University works to inspire and educate the next generation of STEM students by bringing developments in the sciences and math to the Latino and Indigenous communities in the nineteen-county Big Bend region of far West Texas.
