The Great Minds in STEM (GMiS) organization first honored Sandra Evers-Manly with the Chairman’s Award at the 2018 Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation (HENAAC) Awards. This February, GMiS saluted her two-decade-long accomplishments at Northrop Grumman. Evers-Manly joined the aerospace giant as an intern following her junior year of college.
According to Northrop Grumman’s Students and Entry Level webpage, interns work on projects in aerospace, cyber, manufacturing, engineering, information technology, business management, logistics, and all functions across the enterprise.
Currently, Evers-Manly is vice president of global corporate responsibility and president of the Northrop Grumman Foundation. In 2008 she established the foundation to work directly with K-20 institutions and non-profit organizations that deliver science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programming for students and teachers.
Over the years the foundation has expanded its mission and now gives generously to disaster relief efforts and active military and veteran support groups as well.
In addition to her dedication to diversity and inclusion in the corporate arena, Evers-Manly is a past president of the Beverly Hills/Hollywood Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a civil rights organization in the United States. In 2011, she received a prestigious Deborah Award from the Anti-Defamation League, which recognizes women for outstanding leadership in their professional and civic endeavors.
Evers-Manly has received multiple awards. Her contributions at Northrop Grumman have helped make the company a model of diversity in its industry and helped turn Northrop Grumman into a powerhouse of community outreach.
