On November 22nd, Navajo Technical University’s student services hosted a concert called “Blues Music Night” inside the NTU Wellness Center.
Attendees were treated to a performance of high profile Native talent, such as Levi Platero and Sage Cornelius. Both artists performed rock ‘n’ roll and blues music, showcasing modern Native music at its finest.
Sage Cornelius, a young musician from Topeka, Kansas, put a unique spin on the violin, playing everything from blues to hip-hop to heavy metal. He even played some film soundtracks, delighting the audience.
Levi Platero, a Diné blues artist from To’hajilee, New Mexico, demonstrated a guitar playing style that encapsulated experience in the blues genre.
Dark Winds Season Two star Loren Anthony was also present at the concert and signed autographs for fans. Roosters Grill out of Coyote Canyon provided catering for the event.
The Student Senate hosted the event to show appreciation to the students who couldn’t go home for the holidays and to help them keep up with their schoolwork.
