Healthcare enterprise to support 8,000 young people at the start of a new school year

The start of the school year is an exciting time for students, but the expense of a new backpack each year can often be a challenge for some families.

Health Net is once again collaborating with partners across California to help students and their families prepare for the upcoming school year.

Health Net’s partnership with over 30 providers and community-based organizations has made a significant impact by delivering 8,000 backpacks filled with vital information and resources directly to students and families in their communities.

This collaboration has been a source of relief for many families, alleviating financial challenges and increasing health awareness.

At family-focused community events, Health Net included informative flyers in English and Spanish, providing information about telehealth, and available resources for whole-person health support.

The community has noted the importance of the backpack giveaway and how it ensures that children have the necessary supplies for a successful school year.

Partnering with Health Net to provide backpacks to hundreds of local youths helps remove as many barriers as possible to ensure local youth feel they have the resources, preparation, and support needed to excel academically.

Founded in California over 45 years ago, Health Net, a company of Centene Corporation, serves more than three million members. Health Net and Centene employ more than 5,700 people in California who work at one of five regional Talent Hub offices.
