POSTED ON Jul 09, 2024

College students and recent graduates now have until July 19, 2024, to submit their applications for the fall session of the HACU National Internship Program.

The fall internship program will take place from September 2 to December 13, 2024.

The 15-week program offers placements at federal agencies in Washington, D.C., field offices nationwide, or remote positions.

Some of the participating agencies include the National Institutes of Health, the United States Agency for International Development, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the United States Department of Labor. Click here for more information.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program (HNIP) recently received recognition from the U.S. Senate for its contributions.

A Senate Resolution honored the 30th anniversary of the program and acknowledged its role in increasing Hispanic intern recruitment in the federal government.

The program has helped thousands of alumni secure positions in the federal government, state or local government, and private industry.

HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores expressed gratitude to the Senate for recognizing the program’s 30-year milestone and thanked the federal and corporate partners for providing invaluable opportunities to interns from Hispanic-serving institutions and other colleges and universities.

The program is open to currently enrolled undergraduate, graduate, and recently graduated students in any major who have completed their first year of undergraduate studies.

In addition, National Intern Day is celebrated on July 27 to recognize the contributions of interns across various organizations

HNIP began with 24 summer interns in 1992 and has grown to over 500 interns serving multiple federal agencies yearly.

National Intern Day, created in 2017 by WayUp, is dedicated to recognizing interns and is celebrated on the last Thursday of July.

This day highlights entry-level challenges and investments in internship programs and interns.
