Registration is now open for the Great Minds in STEM Conference. This Fourth of July weekend, student registration for the 2025 GMiS Conference will be reduced to just $149, according to social media posts.

Great Minds in STEM (GMiS) advocates for the career readiness of diverse populations in STEM fields, equipping them with the 21st-century skills needed to become globally competitive leaders and innovators.

GMiS’s initiatives include outreach programs to raise pre-college awareness, financial and career development support for college students, and professional recognition to highlight role models who inspire the next generation of STEM professionals.

Recently, Peter Mellado, the new executive director of GMiS, shared an open letter on social media expressing his hope for increased support for the organization.

He emphasized that such support would enable GMiS to expand its programs and services, ensuring that the United States has a competitive and STEM-capable workforce in the future.

Mellado advocates for the development of a homegrown talent pool, particularly among groups representing the nation’s fastest-growing yet most underserved communities.

He is optimistic that America’s innovation engine will remain strong if the next generation of STEM workers can fill the gaps left by retiring baby boomers.

Mellado encouraged everyone to support the importance of high school graduation and emphasized that post-secondary degrees in technical fields are attainable.

These degrees can open numerous doors to opportunities. Furthermore, Mellado stresses the need to foster multifaceted partnerships with educational institutions to break down barriers that hinder many American students from accessing the careers the economy demands.

Register today for the 2025 GMiS Conference, which will be held Oct. 2-4 at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel in Downtown San Diego. www.gmisconference.org.
