Great Minds in STEM is inviting its undergraduate and graduate student members to participate in the 2025 Research Poster Competition. The invitation also extends to students from the Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (CAHSI).
CAHSI operates as a network of students, faculty, administrators, and other professionals across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, dedicated to increasing Hispanic representation in computing within higher education and the workforce.
In this week’s announcement, GMiS encourages students to showcase their research and technical expertise to leading professionals and peers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Participants will have the opportunity to present their work to a national audience, enhance their professional profiles, build connections in the STEM community, and gain valuable feedback from experts in academia, research, and industry.
This Research Posters Competition serves as an excellent platform for aspiring STEM leaders to distinguish themselves in research and innovation.
The deadline for submissions is September 1. Don’t miss the chance to participate in the GMiS Research Posters Competition, which will take place during the 2025 GMiS Conference from October 2 to 4, in San Diego, CA.
Additionally, during a summit on science, technology, and innovation held in 2023, it was agreed to designate September 16 as the International Day of Science, Technology, and Innovation for the South.
The summit’s declaration, titled “The Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation,” emphasizes the essential role that STI plays in addressing development challenges. It promotes better cooperation, fair access to technology, and the responsible use of scientific innovations.
According to the United Nations, in 2024, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming September 16 as the International Day of Science, Technology, and Innovation for the South.
This resolution underscores the importance of utilizing scientific and technological advancements for sustainable development and invites UN member states, specialized agencies, international organizations, academia, civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders to observe this International Day.
It encourages the presentation of initiatives, including cooperative projects in the areas of science, technology, and innovation that contribute to the development of emerging economies in these fields.
