Miami Dade College (MDC) has officially started classes for the spring 2025 semester. On September 6, 2024, MDC celebrated its 64th anniversary, having welcomed over two and a half million alumni since its founding in 1960.

According to a video shared on YouTube, one of the highlights of the 2024-2025 academic year is the return of soccer for the first time since 1990.

Additional significant events highlighted during MDC’s Welcome Back Week included the induction of 500 students in the fourth cohort of Rising and Presidential Scholars, along with 370 students from The Honors College.

During Convocation 2024, the college reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, student success, and the realization of dreams.

In 2022, Miami announced the largest tech scholarship ever offered for courses in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and app development.

Miami Dade College also inaugurated its AI Center at North Campus, aimed at preparing the future AI workforce, upskilling existing professionals, and raising AI awareness in Miami through classes, workshops, lectures, and other activities.

In Fall 2024, MDC introduced a new Bachelor of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence.

This program is designed to equip students for the rapidly growing AI field. According to the college’s website, areas of study include computational methods and applications for AI, the design of machine learning software applications, AI systems automation to enhance efficiency and performance, and simulation techniques for modeling AI systems.

With MDC prioritizing AI readiness skills campus-wide through its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), students are exploring new technology using AI-powered simulations and hands-on learning experiences to gain invaluable skills for the future.
