In a recent initiative, Google awarded 500 Career Certificate Scholarships to the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) for students attending Hispanic Serving Member Institutions.

These scholarships allow students to acquire job-ready skills through certificates in various fields.

They include Google IT Support, Google IT Automation with Python, Google Data Analytics, Google Project Management, and Google UX Design.

The Professional Certificate Scholarships cover five online programs: User Experience (UX) Design, Project Management, Data Analytics, IT Support (Introductory Level), and IT Automation (Advanced Level with Python).

Students have the opportunity to earn one Professional Certificate, with a maximum timeframe of six months to complete the program.

In a social media post, Google illustrated how one student, who decided to start a new career, took steps to complete the Google UX Design Certificate and gain the confidence she needed to search for jobs.

  • In January 2022, Mollie completed the Google UX Design Certificate. By March 2022, she had secured a UX Design internship.
  • A year later, she was offered a full-time position as a junior product designer.
  • In March 2024, Mollie was promoted to product designer, and by the fall of 2024, she launched her first client-facing feature at her company.
  • Learn how you can take the next step in your career.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, Google revealed apps, games and books created by Latinos in Google Play’s Hispanic Heritage Month hub, featuring art by Mexican illustrator Ventura.
