Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College recently announced its victory in this year’s FAFSA Face-Off competition, where it competed against Bay Mills Community College and Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College.
This competition aimed to encourage students to complete their FAFSA applications, and Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College achieved the highest percentage of submissions, thanks to the support of the Student Services team in the Financial Aid department.
In recognition of Native American Heritage Month, the college invited students to share photos on their social media to win exciting prizes.
Earlier this fall, the college announced a series of weekly themes for its Native American Heritage Month Cultural Pride celebration.
The themes include “Wear Your Ribbon Skirts/Vests ” “Wear Your Beadwork” “Rock Your Mocs” and “Wear Your Ribbon Shirts” weeks.
Additional events during this celebration include teaching at Eagle Rock, a fashion show featuring Anishinaabe fashion, making spirit dishes, and traditional food gatherings.
Throughout November, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) will highlight the inspiring achievements of Indigenous innovators, leaders, and changemakers.
These individuals are paving the way for a future where Native voices are not only included but also lead and transform the STEM landscape.
