On April 30, Ringling College of Art and Design introduced an Environmental Studies minor in response to growing global environmental challenges and increasing student interest in sustainability.

According to Ringling College, this minor provides students from all majors the opportunity to explore the complex relationship between humans and the natural world, equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to drive meaningful environmental change in their communities and careers.

Ringling College described its 2025 Commencement as pure magic, reminding graduates that “if you can dream it, you can do it.”

The celebration of Ringling College’s graduating seniors included the 2025 Senior Thesis Exhibitions—a campus-wide showcase featuring an impressive array of work from all majors.

In exciting news for aspiring theme park designers, Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe theme park has officially opened for its inaugural summer season.

Every aspect of the theme park experience, from thrilling rides to performances, shops, and restaurants, is crafted with intention.

Now, an all-new design competition aims to find the next generation of talented designers, with winners earning a college scholarship and a trip to Universal Orlando Resort.

Ringling College of Art and Design has announced the Theme Park Design Competition, targeting U.S. high school juniors and seniors who are passionate about the field of entertainment design.

Finalists’ submissions will be featured in an exhibition at Universal Creative or a Universal Studios-owned facility.

Top winners will receive exclusive VIP “behind-the-scenes” experiences with Universal Studios, including complimentary travel and accommodations.

To participate, students are invited to imagine and design their creative solution to a fictional theme park problem, integrating their unique creativity.

The top winners will earn a tuition scholarship to Ringling College of Art and Design, VIP experiences with Universal Studios, complimentary travel and accommodations, and more!

Unlock your creativity by downloading the comprehensive project brief, which serves as your roadmap for understanding the challenge.

This brief outlines an imaginary problem for Universal Studios: designing a mobile, all-weather cart that engages visitors with a unique merchandise experience.

Consider how your design could enhance the sale of food, apparel, souvenirs, and both physical and digital goods, making it a memorable experience for visitors.

Immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of Universal Studios and envision how guests will interact with your creation.

High school students are encouraged to design a mobile merchandise cart intended for use in Universal Studios theme parks.

From Ringling College, the top three winners will receive a $20,000 tuition scholarship to a Ringling College of Art and Design undergraduate program (non-transferable and dependent upon acceptance into their major of choice for Fall 2026 or Fall 2027).
