University of Arizona’s Summer Engineering Academy has something for everyone. According to UA, themed camps delve into nearly all engineering majors and make connections between various disciplines, such as bioengineering and biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering, and systems engineering, to name a few.
Last year, more than 200 students from over 80 high schools worked with UA professors and graduate students, the university said.
This week, the first ‘Women in Engineering’ themed camp covers fifteen engineering majors, along with projects, leadership, and career mentoring.
‘Engineering and Health’ will be the focus of the fourth week (July 7-12). Highlights include demos at the Arizona Center for Accelerated Biomedical Innovation and learning about sensors and measuring crop growth variables.
Week five (July 14-19) is all about ‘Engineering and Technology’ giving high school seniors an opportunity to learn about data systems, cybersecurity, programming, circuits, optical fiber technologies, and more.
The theme for the first and second week was ‘Explore Engineering’ with students who have completed eighth or ninth grade, and students who have completed 10th or 11th-grade, respectively.
