Digital transformation, supporting first-gen student journeys with AI

Many institutions are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence (AI), enabling colleges to connect with students in more meaningful ways. California higher education institutions are at the forefront of this trend, focusing on student success.

The Foundation for California Community Colleges’ CollegeBuys program recently announced a partnership with an AI-first customer relationship management (CRM) and student engagement platform.

This collaboration allows more institutions—particularly those with fewer resources—to utilize AI tools that support every student’s journey.

According to Element451, the goal is to transform how colleges engage with students, aligning with statewide initiatives to aid underserved populations.

Element451’s platform supports initiatives like the California Community Colleges’ Vision 2030 and Guided Pathways by providing outreach and engagement tailored to each student’s experiences, even in their native language.

This AI-driven approach is particularly beneficial for first-generation students, who make up a significant portion of the California community college population.

Currently, over 250 institutions nationwide use Element451 to streamline communication, personalize outreach, and strengthen connections between students and their schools.

This partnership enhances access to AI-powered student engagement for California colleges, supporting their mission to improve retention rates and student success.

On October 30, influential figures from the government and technology sectors will gather to discuss best practices for enhancing digital defenses and promoting cyber resiliency.

Public sector officials, private sector leaders, and those managing the nation’s critical infrastructure will convene at CyberTalks to address AI’s risks to individual privacy, corporate interests, national security, and global stability.

In November, the 7th OECD World Forum on Well-being will examine how a focus on well-being can improve our understanding of societal challenges, including those posed by artificial intelligence (AI).

The forum will launch its flagship report, “How’s Life? 2024 – Well-being and Resilience in Times of Crisis.”

Additionally, the organizers will introduce the OECD Digital Well-being Hub, developed in collaboration with Cisco.

This hub will gather real-time data on people’s digital behaviors and experiences through a crowd-sourcing tool, helping to illustrate inequalities and opportunities arising from digital life and offering a clearer picture of how digital transformation affects our lives and well-being.
