The Computer Science Teachers Association has announced a kickoff CSEdWeek celebration on Monday, December 9, to mark its annual call to action.

It’s still possible to register for the official event, where the association will introduce this year’s CS Heroes. Previous heroes will also participate in a panel discussion, sharing their thoughts and experiences with computer science. This year’s theme is: Looking Back, Leaping Forward.

NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) is celebrating all things code during Computer Science Education Week (December 9-15, 2024). Visit their website to find programming games and coding activities.

NASA has also announced the application deadlines for full-time and part-time internships in 2025. Students can apply for summer internships by February 28 and for fall internships by May 16.

According to the OSTEM website, these internships provide valuable practical work experience while allowing students to collaborate with mentors such as research scientists, engineers, and professionals from various fields.

Through these internships, students can play a role in advancing NASA’s goals in science, technology, aeronautics, and space exploration.

Additionally, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is hosting a webinar focused on internship opportunities for Summer 2025.

The session will feature Lisa Wininger, who is involved with NASA’s Minority University Research and Education Project for American Indian and Alaska Native STEM Engagement (MAIANSE) program.

This initiative supports Indigenous students interested in collaborating with NASA and partnering with tribal colleges and universities. Lisa holds degrees in environmental planning and management, as well as urban planning and education.

During the webinar, participants will hear firsthand experiences from members of the Natives at NASA employee group, who will share their journeys and be available to answer questions.

Students will learn about various internship options, including NASA and Pathways internships, which offer hands-on experience working alongside research scientists and engineers.

Webinar leaders will provide essential tips for finding internships or jobs, navigating the online application process, and strategies to enhance application quality.

Mark your calendars, and be sure to register!
