The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) will host a webinar titled “Empowering Higher Ed Leaders – Harnessing Generative AI for Institutional Innovation” for HACU members on July 9.
In April, HACU announced a partnership with Logixs, a Spanish company specializing in generative AI, aimed at transforming education within its member institutions.
According to a press release, Logixs CEO Francisco José Moreno Balboa and HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores signed a memorandum of understanding during HACU’s Annual National Capitol Forum on April 29.
This partnership will allow participating institutions to collaborate on research projects related to generative AI and work with private companies on research and development initiatives focused on generative artificial intelligence, fostering educational and technological innovation.
Logixs is recognized as a leading Spanish company that develops customized solutions based on generative AI. They optimize processes, automate complex tasks, and create competitive advantages for their clients.
With a team of 50 AI specialists, Logixs has developed over 20 use cases utilizing generative AI, collaborating with prominent companies and multinationals across various sectors, including energy, healthcare, automotive, distribution, defense, and finance.
Also this week, HACU, in partnership with Conectado, will present the Summer 2025 AI Academy on July 10-11.
This immersive online AI boot camp offers an educational experience designed for high school and college students.
Participants will engage in hands-on activities, explore real-world use cases, and complete guided projects utilizing AI tools.
Conectado is an innovative Web 3/AI digital platform with a mission to accelerate access to opportunities for underrepresented individuals.
In related news, Guillermo Diaz Jr., the founder and CEO of Conectado Inc who was recently named to Hispanic Engineer magazine’s top 50 to watch, received the American Latino Veterans Association 2025 Role Model Award for his service in the U.S. Navy and his leadership in tech transformation across Silicon Valley.
As the CEO and founder of Conectado Inc., he continues to build a lasting legacy of impact for communities across the U.S.
The HC3-Hispanic C-Suite Corporate Council congratulated Diaz on his award. Frank Carbajal, founder of the Silicon Valley Latino Leadership Summit at Es Tiempo LLC, also expressed his congratulations.
On social media, Carbajal shared memories of meeting Diaz during the early days of the Silicon Valley Latino Leadership Summit’s founding.
At that time, Diaz was an executive at Cisco and a board member at HITEC. This organization provides leadership development, educational programs, and mentoring to drive business growth while inspiring professionals and students in technology-related fields to pursue their goals with confidence and determination.
Much later in their friendship, Diaz shared his incredible story for publication in “Latinx Business Success: How Latinx Ingenuity, Innovation, and Tenacity are Driving Some of the World’s Biggest Companies,” a book written by Carbajal and José Morey.
Morey has also consulted with various companies to help train their deep learning algorithms and neural networks for developing intelligent systems in healthcare and aerospace.
The book “Latinx Business Success” features interviews with accomplished Latin business leaders in the United States, including Diaz, to explain the factors contributing to leadership success for current and aspiring Latinx leaders.
Carbajal expressed that it was an honor to have been part of Diaz’s early-stage business venture, Conectado Inc.
He emphasized that an essential aspect of Conectado is building a network of leaders for a sustainable future and ensuring that all Latinos have access to educational opportunities for success through the platform.
As the founder of the Silicon Valley Latino Leadership Summit, Carbajal believes it is crucial to elevate all Latinos with a sense of purpose, drive, and connection.
Acknowledging the challenges of the current climate, Carbajal stated that he could count on people like Guillermo Diaz.
He also noted that Conectado views the community as integral to its identity and mission, enriching cultural heritage with a tenacious spirit that continues to create opportunities for all to achieve hope and success.
