Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Hispanic Engineer Magazine

This summer, Guillermo Diaz, Jr., recognized as one of the top 100 in technology by Hispanic Engineer, received the American Latino Veterans Association 2025 Role Model Award for his service in the U.S. Navy and inspiring leadership in tech transformation across Silicon Valley.

As the CEO and founder of Conectado Inc., Diaz utilizes a Web3 and artificial intelligence (AI) platform to promote representation in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.

He has also chaired HITEC, a leading organization for Hispanic tech executives. In addition, he serves on the boards of Blue Shield of California, Jack in the Box, Unicoin, Cristo Rey, NPower, and the Stanford Latino Entrepreneur Initiative.

Diaz began his career in the U.S. Navy, where he received a scholarship to attend Regis University. He is a strong advocate for Latino and veteran initiatives, as well as the broader tech industry.

Recently, he served as the CEO of Kloudspot, Inc.. This company provides an AI and IoT-driven platform for situational awareness and intelligence, transforming physical data into actionable business insights.

Before joining Kloudspot, Diaz had a 20-year tenure at Cisco, where he held senior leadership positions, including Global Chief Information Officer (CIO).

His career also includes leadership roles at Silicon Graphics, Intelligent Electronics (formerly Ingram Micro), and Alza Corporation (now part of Johnson & Johnson).

Diaz has received numerous awards and honors, including being named “One to Watch” by CIO Magazine and being recognized by Latino Leaders Magazine and Hispanic Engineer magazine.

In an upcoming Velocity event, Diaz will join other experts to bring artificial intelligence (AI) to life.

Speakers at the event will include Sol Trujillo, CEO and founder of Velocity; Michael Crow, president of Arizona State University; Fidel Vargas, president and CEO of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund; Dr. Julio Frenk, chancellor of UCLA; Dr. Jose Hernandez, retired NASA astronaut and a regent at the University of California; Dr. Juan Sanchez Munoz, chancellor of the University of California, Merced; George Carrillo, co-founder and CEO of the Hispanic Construction Council; Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International; and Marie Lynn Miranda, Chancellor of the University of Illinois Chicago.
