Hundreds of colleges have held virtual graduation ceremonies since the out-break of COVID-19. On August 20, California State University, San Bernardino held its virtual Convocation to celebrate the new academic year.
According to Cal State Bernardino, President Tomás Morales gave the keynote address, laying out the university’s plan for the 2020-2021 school year.
CSUSB said the virtual Convocation featured faculty and staff, new student leaders, in memoriam slides of employees who have passed away, presentation of educational milestones, faculty and service award winners, president’s achievement award winners and outstanding employee award winners.
During the last year, Cal State San Bernardino has ranked high on lists for best educational services to military and veteran students. More than 80 percent of CSUSB’s 18,000 student population are first-generation college students.
CSUSB was one of the 23 campuses of the California State University System that were forced to move to a virtual format, which is expected to continue through December 2020.
