Did you know that National Intern Day falls on July 25 this year?

National Intern Day is celebrated on the last Thursday of July and aims to bring attention to entry-level challenges, inspire investments into internship programs, and recognize the contributions of interns.

The day recognizes the invaluable contributions of interns. It was created by WayUp in 2017.

In 2022, National Intern Day announced Boeing as the top internship program. Boeing interns, with their potential and dedication, collaborate with employees to work on complex challenges across different business units, helping them develop technical and leadership skills.

General Dynamics has been listed among WayUp’s Top 100 Internship Programs for over five years nationwide.

Recently, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) celebrated the 30th anniversary of the HACU National Internship Program (HNIP) during Hispanic-Serving Institution Week.

HNIP, which began in 1992 with 24 summer interns, has now grown to over 500 interns serving various federal agencies yearly, demonstrating its success in nurturing young talent. A Senate resolution commemorated HNIP’s 30-year legacy of increasing diversity in the federal government and private sector.

HACU is now accepting applications for the spring 2025 session of its internship program from college students. The spring internship program dates are January 6 – April 18, 2025. The online application deadline is October 18, 2024.

Handshake, with more than 1400 college and university partners, suggests that students start their internship search in January for spring, May for summer, and August for fall.

Winter internship dates typically start in November or December. According to Internships.com, summer internships begin in June and last 10 to 12 weeks.

Internships are essential for college students as they prepare them for their future endeavors.

Lynn Carroll mentioned in an article for Parker Dewey that more and more employers value year-round internships. Internships can help students build a network, gain valuable experience, make money, and improve their chances of being hired full-time.

Check out internship sessions starting in mid-January, late May, and early September.
