Applications for the 2025-2026 AANHPI/APIA Scholarship are now open

Asian Pacific Islander American Scholars (APIA Scholars), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students, has announced the launch of its updated scholarship application.

This redesigned initiative aims to reduce financial barriers to higher education for students in need while ensuring accessibility for a diverse group of scholars.

In the new format, a GPA requirement has been eliminated, and submitting a letter of recommendation has become optional.

Additionally, applicants are now required to write only one essay, with an optional second essay or letter of recommendation available.

According to the press release, APIA Scholars is setting a new standard in scholarship delivery by addressing the challenges faced by AANHPI students, many of whom deal with financial difficulties, systemic inequities, and cultural pressures.

APIA Scholars will also introduce pilot funding options, allowing for flexible use of scholarship funds—such as covering housing and food costs—and an expanded pilot program for emergency funds.

“We are committed to empowering AANHPI students by ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational aspirations,” said Dr. Noël S. Harmon, president and executive director of APIA Scholars. “Our revamped scholarship program is the result of thorough research, attentive listening to our students, and close collaboration with our partners. It is designed to support those who need it most and help them succeed in college and beyond.”

Applications for the 2025-2026 Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI)/Asian Pacific Islander (APIA) Scholarship are now open.

Scholarship awards range from one-time amounts of $2,500 to multi-year awards of up to $20,000. The application deadline is January 15, 2025. For more information about eligibility and the application process, please visit the website.
