Applications are now being accepted for a 2025/26 Electronic Communications Scholarship

POSTED ON Dec 24, 2024

Established in 2022, the Louis T. Fiore Electronic Communications Scholarship honors Fiore’s significant contributions to the alarm industry. This scholarship aims to promote careers in electronic communications.

It is open to anyone studying an electronics curriculum, specifically in electronic communications or software development related to electronic communications, regardless of financial need.

Students pursuing a degree in electrical engineering or an associate degree in electronics at any nationally accredited educational institution are encouraged to apply.

The application deadline is February 28, 2025.

The winner will be announced, and the scholarship will be awarded in August 2025. The recipient will be formally recognized at the TMA Annual Meeting in October 2025.

For students entering their first year at a qualifying educational institution, a letter of acceptance from the academic institution and proof of enrollment are required, in addition to an official high school transcript that includes GPA, a list of extracurricular activities, any honors received, a resume or CV, and a 500-word essay explaining their passion for electronic communications and reasons for studying this field.

Additionally, a new report from Sallie Mae examines the critical role of scholarships in funding higher education for families.

The national survey found that families spent an average of $28,409 on college for the 2023-2024 academic year, consistent with the $28,026 spent the previous year.

The report indicates that families covered nearly half (48%) of their college expenses through income and savings, according to findings from “How America Pays for College 2024,” a study released by Sallie Mae and Ipsos.

The $2,000 Sallie Mae Scholarship Sweepstakes began on Sunday, January 1, 2024, and the deadline to enter is December 31, 2024. There is still time to participate for a chance to win a $2,000 Sallie Mae Scholarship.

Eligibility for the sweepstakes includes students enrolled in accredited colleges or universities across the United States, as well as high school seniors and those who are high school juniors or seniors planning to enroll in an accredited institution within a year of graduating.

Residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and US Territories who are at least 17 years old can enter for a chance to win.

The odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.

Participants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university located within the United States or be a high school senior situated within the US, or currently enrolled as a high school junior or senior intending to enroll in an accredited college or university in the United States within a year of graduating high school.
