The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) has announced a partnership with Intel Corporation and the Intel Scholars program to increase the pipeline of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) talent. The program provides scholarships for Native American students pursuing a degree in STEM.
According to the announcement, scholarship awards are $5,000 for undergraduate students and $10,000 for graduate students. But the Intel Scholars program goes beyond direct financial support.
Scholarship awardees will also have access to career-building opportunities, including an Intel mentorship program, exposure to Intel job opportunities, career-focused training and workshops, mental health and wellness support, and more.
The eligibility degrees are Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Neuroscience, Physics, and Software Engineering.
Applicants must be an enrolled citizen or a descendant of an enrolled citizen of a federal or state-recognized American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native Village; or Native Hawaiian or descendant from a Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander or descendant from Pacific Islander; or an Indigenous person of Canada.
