On March 28, the EDSAFE AI Alliance, in partnership with aiEDU: The AI Education Project and Tech Interactive, celebrated National AI Literacy Day.

This event brought together students, parents, educators, and community members to explore the question: “What is AI?”

With over 100 supporting organizations working together, more than 80 educational events took place throughout the day, showcasing the collaborative spirit of our community.

Teachers had the opportunity to participate in virtual professional development sessions, gaining new insights on how to integrate AI literacy into their classrooms seamlessly.

They explored a wealth of resources, including valuable lesson plans that cater to both school and after-school programs, empowering them to inspire their students.

Recent research indicates that one in three children under eight years old are already using AI tools for learning, highlighting the importance of this initiative.

National AI Literacy Day was a pivotal moment to address this evolving landscape and equip our youth with the essential knowledge to navigate a world increasingly influenced by AI

The National AI Literacy Day Steering Committee organized two key events: one in the vibrant city of Washington, D.C., and the other at The Tech Interactive in beautiful San Jose, CA. Furthermore, local affiliate events were held across numerous states and districts, showcasing the widespread enthusiasm for AI education.

In a show of support for the new College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Computing, and Data Science at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), USAA generously donated $2 million.

This funding will help establish a Student Success Center, create a data repository for innovative projects, and offer scholarships to students, paving the way for their success.

This significant investment aims to develop a strong talent pipeline that will benefit both USAA and the regional economy, attracting high-achieving students and fostering interdisciplinary career opportunities.

Notably, about one-third of the donation is earmarked for scholarships, enhancing student retention and leading to thriving futures in the San Antonio workforce.

USAA is recognized as a top employer, the largest employer of UTSA graduates, and a key supporter of internships.
