California State University, Fresno, recently celebrated National Ag Day, honoring the individuals who cultivate the food we cherish and the collective efforts that sustain our vibrant communities.
Agriculture is the heartbeat of the Central Valley, and Fresno State wholeheartedly embraces this role.
At the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, students engage in hands-on learning and pioneering research, equipping themselves to meet the exciting challenges of the agricultural landscape ahead.
This year, the California Department of Food and Agriculture partnered with California Women for Agriculture and the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom to host an Ag Day celebration.
It was an opportunity to highlight California’s vibrant agricultural community, showcasing the state’s crops and commodities. It’s also a day for farmers and ranchers to express their gratitude for the vital support they receive.
Fresno State also hosted GradFest festivities from March 12 to March 14.
This three-day celebration provided graduates with access to exclusive alum gear, interactive workshops, complimentary headshots to enhance their resumes, and the opportunity to create keepsakes at the graduation bracelet station.
The event featured music and numerous photo opportunities. The opening ceremony was led by Victor E. Bulldog IV, Fresno State’s beloved mascot, as graduating seniors marched up the steps of the Alumni House, symbolizing their transition into alums’ lives.
Professional headshot booths were available to help graduates enhance their resumes and professional image.
Additionally, a Senior Success Bootcamp included fast-paced, 35-minute workshops led by industry experts and successful alums, offering insider tips on essential real-world skills to help new graduates navigate life after college effectively.
Seminars included: “From College Hoodies to Power Looks: Dressing for Success on Any Budget,” where graduates learned how to build a professional wardrobe without overspending, “Saving and Investing for Beginners: Making Your Money Work for You,” a comprehensive guide covering savings, stocks, 401(k) and Roth retirement accounts, and wealth-building strategies, “Bills, Budgets & Broke No More,” which focused on budgeting hacks to help graduates spend wisely and save significantly after college, and “Networking Like a Pro: How to Make Meaningful Connections (Without It Being Awkward),” which taught the art of conversation and provided tips for LinkedIn, coffee chats, and professional events.
