The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) made headlines recently by announcing that it received 40,000 undergraduate applications for admission, a sign that more students than ever are choosing to attend UTSA.
During their spring commencement week, UTSA shared on social media that 45% of its graduates are first-generation college students.
On May 18, 2,250 graduates crossed the stage, marking them as the first in their families to earn a college degree.
The alum network, which now includes approximately 165,000 members, has grown by nearly 5,000 graduates.
Among these graduates is Paige, who gained valuable skills by creating content for UTSA’s social media across various platforms.
She took photos at events and football games and captured images of students engaging in campus traditions. This semester, Paige graduated with a B.A. in Multidisciplinary Studies, with a focus on Film and Media.
Another graduate, Daniel, earned a B.B.A. in Cyber Security and spent three years working as a photographer and videographer on the marketing team for Recreation and Student Affairs. He plans to earn various certifications as he awaits onboarding for his new job.
In alignment with its strategic vision, UTSA has announced plans to launch the College of AI, Cyber, and Computing, which is set to open in fall 2025.
This new college is expected to enroll more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
Its faculty and staff will collaborate closely with employers and community partners to ensure that the academic programs align with workforce needs, preparing UTSA graduates for a growing array of career opportunities.
