On October 1st, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) announced the kickoff of the 21st Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
Throughout October, CISA and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) focused on the theme “Secure Our World,” aiming to educate the public on how to stay safe online.
Additionally, the Society of Professional Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) announced the CyberTech Trek in partnership with Bank of America, offering a Cybersecurity Certificate Opportunity.
This course was free for SHPE members who were interested in gaining a competitive edge in the in-demand field of cybersecurity.
Thanks to their partnership with Bank of America, selected participants received both training and certification coursework in cybersecurity.
The program also included mentoring and professional development from cybersecurity professionals at Bank of America, as well as sponsorship to attend this year’s National Convention in Anaheim, CA.
This sponsorship covered airfare, registration, and hotel accommodations.
The opportunity was available to SHPE members who are undergraduate students.
The 40-hour certificate program included several courses on topics such as Security and Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Architecture and Engineering, Communication and Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Assessment and Testing, Security Operations, and Software Development Security.
Subject matter experts provided guidance and directed students to additional resources on the issues they were studying. Questions were typically answered within 24 hours.
