Students enrolled in a degree-seeking program at an accredited academic institution in the U.S. are encouraged to apply.
As an intern, you will be working to advance educational equity, excellence, and economic opportunity for Native Americans and strengthen tribal colleges and universities.
Full-time and part-time internships are offered throughout the year in Washington, DC during the spring, summer, and fall terms.
The winter/spring session is from January to May, the summer session is from June to August, and the fall session is from August to December.
White House Initiative Interns attend meetings, briefings, and events within and outside the Department on federal education policy interests; assist with policy memos; assist with inter-agency working groups and conference planning; assist staff with preparation for travel, meetings, and briefings; occasionally perform various administrative tasks; and other duties as assigned. The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) represents 37 tribal colleges and universities and has recently announced a partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NCRS).
The partnership aims to recruit students for the new USDA/NCRS internships in soil conservation and engineering training programs.
