Maria Serrano Santana, an immigrant herself, chose to pursue a college education while raising four children. Despite the numerous challenges she faced, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching in 1988 and became a role model for her family and future generations.
After immigrating to the United States with her husband in 2001, Maria continued to emphasize the importance of education in improving one’s life.
The La Santana Scholarship aims to help immigrants and refugees achieve their dreams by providing them with the necessary funding to complete their degrees.
