Disney Junior celebrated International Day of the Girl Child by creating a mood board featuring some of its most beloved computer-animated fantasy comedy children’s TV series.
The board showcased Doc McStuffins, a preschool computer-animated educational children’s TV series that aired on Disney Channel and Disney Junior from 2012 to 2020.
The show centers around a girl who can “fix” toys with the help of her toy friends, and features songs composed and written by Kay Hanley and Michelle Lewis.
Fancy Nancy is another series that follows the adventures of Nancy Clancy, a 6-year-old girl (later 7) who loves everything fancy and French while living with her family.
Eureka is a young inventor who creates gadgets to make her prehistoric community more modern and a better place to live.
Sofia the First is an American animated fantasy children’s TV series created by Craig Gerber, which follows Sofia, a young peasant girl voiced by Ariel Winter, who becomes a princess after her mother marries the king of Enchancia.
Vampirina, or Vee and her family, are friendly vampires. Alice’s Wonderland Bakery (TV Series 2022) revolves around Alice, the great-granddaughter of the original Alice, who works as a young baker at the Wonderland Bakery.
In 2011, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child.
This day is meant to raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by girls worldwide and promote their empowerment and human rights.
With more than 1.1 billion girls today, they are ready to face the future with great courage.
Despite their challenges, such as child marriage, education inequality, violence, climate change, and limited access to healthcare, girls are proving to be unstoppable and breaking barriers every day.
Happy International Day of the Girl! Today, we're celebrating these inspiring characters, as well as girls everywhere ❤️
