This year, on the 10th anniversary of the Hispanic Scientist of the Year award, the Museum Of Sciemce and Industry (MOSI)honors the chief executive and director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Dr. Dan Arvizu , as the 2010 National Hispanic Scientist of the Year.

National News UTEP’s MBA Programs Named #1 in the Nation
The College of Business Administration at The University of Texas at El Paso has
reached a landmark goal in 2010. In the September edition of Hispanic Business
magazine, UTEP is named the top graduate business school for Hispanics in the
nation, coming in ahead of New York University, the University of Texas at
Austin, the University of Miami and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

National News National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators Launches Initiative on Higher Education
The National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators today launched its
web-based center on Higher Education. The website, meant to provide a central
platform for updates on current issues surrounding access to higher education,
will act as a portal for information, news and other resources.

People One on One with Hilda Solis, U.S. Secretary of Labor
Before joining the Obama administration, Hilda Solis was a four-term member of the House of Representatives, where she focused on expanding health care, protecting the environment, and uplifting working people. One of her key legislatives achievements was enactment of a bill that provided funding for “green collar” training for veterans, displaced workers, at-risk youth and people from low-income families.
