Business CIOs REPORT: Survey Finds East Coast and Business Services Firms Most Optimistic About Adding Staff
Technology executives expect to take a conservative approach to hiring in the
final months of the year, according to the fourth-quarter Robert Half Technology
IT Hiring Index and Skills Report. Six percent of chief information officers
(CIOs) plan to expand their information technology (IT) teams and 6 percent
anticipate staff reductions. The majority of respondents, 86 percent, foresee no
changes in personnel levels.

Business Will You Be Prepared When Your OEM Asks You to Go Green?
Going green has gone from the feel-good movement of the moment to something that
is largely a requirement within industry. According to a recent
IndustryWeek article, larger OEMs and retail giants like Wal-Mart are requiring
that their suppliers and their supply chains get greener. And a recent survey of
manufacturers by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers reveals that nearly 20
percent have been asked to provide “environmental footprint” information to
their OEM.

National News NASA Accepting Applications for Aeronautics Scholarship Awards
NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate will begin accepting
scholarship applications on Sept. 1, 2009, for the 2010 academic year. The
application deadline is Jan. 11, 2010. NASA expects to award 20 undergraduate
and five graduate scholarships to students in aeronautics or related fields.
