NASA is inviting both early-career and senior scientists to explore fellowship opportunities in its postdoctoral program. To be eligible, you must have completed your Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or be in the process of earning it. Those who received their doctorates more than five years ago can apply as senior fellows. The NPP is managed by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) on behalf of NASA.

“The NPP includes diverse scientific and technological fellowships offered at NASA and one-of-a-kind educational experiences that prepare future leaders for NASA and the academic community,” said ORAU NPP Program Director J. Scott Miller. “ORAU supports NASA’s goal to build an inclusive, collaborative, open, and innovative work environment that enhances work-life balance and encourages career development for postdoctoral fellows.”

This program provides exceptional research opportunities for both U.S. and non-U.S. scientists. It allows them to participate in ongoing NASA research projects alongside leading scientists at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or a NASA-affiliated research institute.

These competitive one-to-three-year fellowships are tailored to support NASA’s space science, earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology missions.

The NASA postdoctoral fellows are offered a stipend starting at $70,000 per year, and supplements are provided for higher cost-of-living areas and certain academic specialties. Senior postdoctoral fellows’ stipends depend on their location, experience, academic rank, and professional title.

The program provides various benefits, including health insurance supplements, professional development resources, a yearly research allowance of up to $10,000, and relocation reimbursement.
