Founded in 2014, MPOWER aims to remove the financial obstacles DACA and international students often face when pursuing education. MPOWER has helped thousands of students achieve their dream of studying abroad.
The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was created to protect young adults brought to the U.S. as children and provide them with work authorization for temporary, renewable periods.
Scholarships are awarded annually to female DACA students enrolled or accepted to study full-time in a STEM degree program at a program MPOWER supports in the United States.
Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school MPOWER supports. According to the website, MPOWER established the Women in STEM Scholarship to celebrate women across the globe contributing to the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. The Women in STEM program has awarded nearly US$30,000 worldwide.
In 2022, MPOWER Women in STEM scholarship award winners included a sustainable fuel engineer, air pollution researcher, and data-driven product innovator.
