American River College has announced Dr. Lisa Cardoza as their new President with approval from the Los Rios Board of Trustees. A highly qualified candidate with extensive experience in higher education, Dr. Cardoza most recently served as the Vice President for University Advancement at California State University, Sacramento. She has also held various leadership roles at Sacramento State and The University of Texas-Pan American. Dr. Cardoza is committed to helping students succeed, particularly those from underserved communities.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Arts in Social Sciences of Education from Stanford University, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. <
Dr. Cardoza will be succeeding American River College Vice President of Instruction Dr. Frank Kobayashi, who has been serving as Interim President during the nationwide search.
“My life’s work and passion is to help individuals achieve their highest potential, whether it’s students, faculty, staff, or administrators. I want to ensure more students, especially students of color and those from underserved communities, have the resources and ability to attend and successfully graduate from college,” said Cardoza. “I look forward to working with the exceptional team of faculty, staff, and administrators at ARC to support our students in reaching their educational and career goals.”
One of California’s bigger higher education institutions, American River College has around 30,000 students enrolled every spring and fall.
