HITEC (Hispanic IT Executive Council) volunteer Carlos Quezada of Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, has hosted two events with about 30 parents of 7th and 8th graders in Santa Clara.
Speaking about the experience, Quezada said, “the students were eager to participate and inspired. We plan to have this be the first of many events going forward.”
Quezada has volunteered with the HITEC Emerging Executive Program since Nov 2017.
He is a member of Leaders Influencing Neighboring Communities, Latino Board Leadership Academy, and the Alum Rock Counseling Center, which delivers health services to youth, families, and individuals throughout Santa Clara County.
According to HITEC, the parent sessions included speakers from Juntos, an HPE employee resource group, Lyft, Adobe, Santa Clara University as well as HITEC member Jesse Betancourt of Oracle.
In addition, Juntos HPE hosted about 25 Hispanic students for a “Lideres” Youth Fellowship visit.
The “Lideres” Youth Fellowship is a 7-month, after-school course that introduces Latino students to technology and business, careers. The program is led and provided by Yacanex, a non-profit organization that focuses on economic development for Latino communities.
The goal is to have students experience life in a high-tech organization and provide a better sense of what it is like to work for a leading company in the tech industry.
Quezada has served as director, Service PLM & Business Operations – Customer Advocacy for Aruba since Apr 2017.
Other positions he has held at high tech companies include vice president of customer success, director of product management, World Wide Technical Support, and director – technical support and escalations.
