Mario Tapia is active in the Wireless community. He is founder of Mobile Monday Seattle and Los Angeles, a global wireless industry group.
His experience in the mobile industry began in 2000, while pioneering Location Based Services at Telecommunication Systems Inc.
Mario has launched mobile data products at AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile USA, Disney Mobile, and Danger Inc. He also pioneered SMS voting in the United States with American Idol while at AT&T Wireless. His list of clients for consulting includes South Korea Telecom Intl., Cell Japan, and Nokia.
Mario is experienced in working with licensed brands, such as ESPN, Napster, Playboy, Disney and Rolling Stone, bringing entertaining tones, images, and games to consumers. He is a recognized expert on entertainment for mobile Internet and holds two patents related to Location Based Services.
Mario earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from California State University at Fresno and has completed post-graduate work at the University of Washington.
Mario started his career working in Boeing’s military research and development division, known as the Phantom Works. There, he engineered next generation technologies for military aircraft.
