Recently, Revelio Labs conducted an analysis focusing on the pathways for university graduates entering the job market. By harnessing hundreds of millions of public employment records to construct a comprehensive HR database, they discovered a significant trend.

Entry-level jobs have seen a reduction of over 35% since January 2023, translating to more than 100,000 fewer new job postings each month.

According to Revelio Labs, while artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping workflows across industries, employers are leaning on experienced talent to implement these tools.

Revelio Labs added that the current job market is hitting entry-level positions particularly hard, with AI-exposed roles experiencing the steepest declines.

When examining the healthcare and social assistance sector, professional, business, and scientific services, information services and technology, finance and insurance, and education, it became evident that many of these sectors have experienced a drop in entry-level demand during the 2024/2025 hiring season compared to the previous year.

Among these, the tech industry stands out with a notable decline of around 25% in entry-level positions.

This has led to an interesting debate: some experts suggest that AI’s rise is leading to the replacement of many entry-level roles, as highlighted by comments from tech CEOs about their future human resource strategies.

On the other hand, Revelio Labs notes skeptics argue that this decrease in entry-level positions is more closely tied to macroeconomic factors and cyclical trends rather than AI.

Amid this evolving landscape, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has organized a timely online event titled “No Student Left Behind: Leverage AI to Support Gen Z in a Tough Job Market,” taking place on September 12.

This engaging one-hour workshop will gather career services professionals and early talent recruiters to delve into the transformative impact of AI on the job market.

NACE’s website highlights that industry experts from Jobscan, along with other knowledgeable insiders, will lead the workshop.

They will share insights on how AI tools can empower students to shine, navigate Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and streamline their job search efforts.

Attendees can look forward to interactive sessions featuring notable speakers, including the author of “Career Coach GPT” and an AI Bootcamp trainer from NACE.

This data-driven workshop is designed to help career coaches embrace the new landscape, understand how to identify “silent strugglers,” and equip students to excel in an algorithm-driven job market.

By reframing AI as a powerful ally rather than a competitor, NACE hopes to build student confidence and foster success in these uncertain times.
