The 30th annual WOC STEM Conference will be held from October 23 to 25, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as on the Digital Twin Experience (DTX) platform.

A recent WOC STEM Conference focused on empowerment in artificial intelligence (AI) and explored its impacts across various sectors. A sub-theme of the conference was “The AI Renaissance: Empowering Women and Transforming the Future.”

This event aims to recognize and promote the significant contributions made in STEM fields, particularly in AI, while examining the opportunities AI presents in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and finance.

The conference features interactive workshops, seminars, and keynote speeches designed to educate participants on the transformative effects of AI.

The goal is to inspire, educate, and empower active participation in the AI field by sharing valuable insights, experiences, and visions for the future of the technology.

The event will also provide networking opportunities, mentorship programs, and a career fair featuring representatives from leading STEM employers.

Last year, Isha M. Renta López, a physical scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Program Office, shared that her passion for meteorology was ignited in her homeland of Puerto Rico.

She also serves as the executive director of Semilla Cultural in Puerto Rico, is a Latina children’s book author, and a Bomba dancer and instructor.

As a management program analyst at NOAA, Isha has helped transform the agency’s communication and alignment of scientific efforts with budgetary goals. She is a dedicated mentor, inspiring the next generation of scientists to pursue their dreams.

Isha received the 2024 WOC STEM Conference Professional Achievement in Government Award for her career accomplishments and unwavering commitment to education.

Melissa Martinez was honored with a community service award at the 29th annual Women of Color STEM Conference for her exceptional service and innovative use of technology for the greater good.

As the manager of digital learning and integration at RTX Corporate, Melissa has dedicated over 20 years to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Her journey began when she became the treasurer for the Raytheon Hispanic Employee Association, after which she became actively involved in raising awareness through various employee resource groups.

Melissa’s work with the Sunnyside School District and the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program at Pueblo High School demonstrates her commitment to encouraging young people to pursue STEM careers and gain access to university scholarships.

In her acceptance speech, Melissa emphasized the impact of tutoring on students, stating, “Some might think that tutoring a student in Algebra is just math. But to a student, it is someone making time to hear them, to help them, and to care. They start to connect Algebra and STEM with a place where they feel at ease and empowered; and they gain confidence, a spark of renewed interest.”
