The lightest Copilot+ PC in the world, the first rollable display AI PC, and an AI personal supercomputer that’s 1,000x the power of an average laptop are just some tech announcements out of CES 2025.
A recent survey among Computer Lab Management students at the University of California, Davis, revealed an impressive 95.4% of students own laptops, while 17% have desktops. Tech-savvy students kept up to date with Windows 10, Windows 11, and the latest macOS versions. Just a small fraction, 2.6%, were on ChromeOS.
Post CES 2025, it’s fascinating to think how these trends may evolve, especially with the advancements in artificial intelligence.
The best laptops and desktops currently include the Asus Zenbook A14, Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, and Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1.
A recipient of the 2025 sustainability and energy/power honor, the ASUS Zenbook A14 stands out as one of the thinnest and lightest artificial intelligence (AI) laptops presented by ASUS at CES 2025.
Weighing less than 1 kg, the new ASUS Zenbook A14 is the lightest Copilot+ PC in the world, according to internal ASUS market analysis comparing it with other laptops certified by Microsoft as Copilot+ PCs from various vendors including Acer, Apple, HP, Huawei, Lenovo, Microsoft, and Samsung, as of December 31, 2024.
For those seeking a laptop that combines a designer aesthetic with AI functionality, the ASUS Zenbook A14 features a built-in Copilot key that provides users with quick access to Copilot features such as Live Captions, Clipchamp, Cocreator, and more.
Alongside its lightweight design, the ASUS Zenbook A14 boasts an impressive battery life of up to 32 hours.
At CES® 2025, Lenovo introduced a range of AI-powered devices, including the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 with a rollable display.
The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is the world’s first rollable display AI PC, developed in collaboration with Lenovo Research.
Originally showcased two years ago as the Lenovo rollable laptop concept, this AI PC can transition from a compact 14-inch display to a larger 16.7-inch screen at the touch of a dedicated key or through camera gesture controls.
This feature provides nearly 50% additional screen space in a portable form factor, making it perfect for business users who require flexibility and efficiency on the go. It maintains an ultra-slim 14-inch laptop footprint with a profile of just 19.9 mm and weighs only 1.7 kg.
NVIDIA unveiled Project DIGITS, a personal AI supercomputer designed to give AI researchers, data scientists, and students around the world access to the NVIDIA Grace Blackwell platform.
Project DIGITS is powered by the new NVIDIA GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, which delivers a petaflop of AI computing performance for prototyping, fine-tuning, and running large AI models.
Project DIGITS will be available from NVIDIA and select partners starting in May, with prices beginning at $3,000.
This supercomputer enables users to develop and run inference on models using their desktop systems and seamlessly deploy them on accelerated cloud or data center infrastructure.
“AI will be mainstream in every application for every industry. With Project DIGITS, the Grace Blackwell Superchip becomes accessible to millions of developers,” stated Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “Equipping every data scientist, AI researcher, and student with an AI supercomputer empowers them to engage with and shape the age of AI.”
The GB10 Superchip allows Project DIGITS to deliver robust performance using only a standard electrical outlet.
Each Project DIGITS unit comes with 128 GB of unified, coherent memory and up to 4 TB of NVMe storage, enabling developers to run large language models with up to 200 billion parameters to drive AI innovation.
Additionally, two Project DIGITS AI supercomputers can be linked via NVIDIA ConnectX® networking to run models with up to 405 billion parameters.
