The NSHSS Foundation offers STEM scholarships for underrepresented groups to help reduce financial barriers for individuals who aspire to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.
Candidates must showcase their desire to major in or pursue an engineering degree in various disciplines, including aeronautical and astronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, materials science, mechanical, nuclear, and ocean engineering.
Applicants are required to submit a letter of recommendation along with a personal statement of 500 to 800 words that addresses the following prompt: “Why STEM? How have you demonstrated a dedicated passion for the STEM field throughout your high school career?“
Additionally, United Planet, a partner of NSHSS, has announced three distinct scholarship opportunities. These include:
– One full scholarship for any Short-Term Volunteer Abroad or Internship Abroad Quest (1 to 3 weeks).
– Five scholarships of $500 each for any Short-Term or Long-Term Volunteer Abroad and Internship Abroad Quest (ranging from 1 week to 1 year).
– Five scholarships of $250 each for any Virtual Volunteer and Internship Quest (lasting 1 month to 6 months).
Applicants may apply for one or all of these scholarships; however, only one scholarship may be awarded per individual. The submission deadline is March 1, 2025.
