Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Hispanic Engineer

Jessica Nunez, an electrical engineering major, appeared on the cover of Hispanic Engineer magazine’s 2012 Hispanic Heritage Month edition.

She started playing tennis at the age of four in Ecuador and was ranked number five in the national tennis singles rankings.

She was voted the best player and was named swimmer and volleyball player of the year for three consecutive years.

At the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), Jessica was honored as the East Coast Conference Preseason Player of the Year and maintained a 3.40 GPA while earning a place on the 1st Team of the East Coast Conference in 2011.

Jessica had an impressive record in tennis and was elected captain of the UDC women’s tennis team.

She also received the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II (DII) Academic Excellence Award as a team and was ranked number nine as Best Singles Tennis Player in the East Region of the USA.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Jessica expressed interest in working on digital devices.
