Employers are planning to hire 14.7 percent more new graduates from the Class of 2023 than the Class of 2022, according to a report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Half of the employers who responded to NACE’s Job Outlook 2023 report plan to increase hiring, while less than 6 percent expect to cut back. The report collected data between Aug. 3, 2022, and Sept. 16, 2022.

Recently, the University of Central Florida (UCF) celebrated its fourth year as a Hispanic-serving institution (HSI). Jobs and internships are crucial to space research projects at UCF, with over 20 faculty, researchers, students, and alums working on projects to aid NASA’s return to the moon.

Faculty and students have worked on hardware required for the mission, while others are focused on ensuring the safety of space explorers.

NASA offers three internship sessions: a 16-week spring session starting in mid-January and running through early May, a summer session lasting ten weeks from late May to early August, and a 16-week fall session from early September to mid-December.

Handshake, which has over 1,400 college and university partners, advises students to begin their internship search in January for spring, May for summer, and August for fall.

Winter internships typically start in November or December, while summer internships usually begin in June and last for 10 to 12 weeks.

According to Hispanic Engineer magazine, internships are crucial for college students as they prepare them for future endeavors.

Year-round internships are more valuable to employers, who appreciate young people eager to learn and connect with professionals in their field.

In addition to building a network, interns can earn money or even secure a full-time job at the end of their internship. Therefore, students should take advantage of all the opportunities available to ensure success.
