Distance education programs offered by Navajo Technical University (NTU) are now featured in SARA Source, a searchable catalog designed to make it easy for students to identify quality distance learning opportunities in their preferred fields of study.
SARA stands for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements, which help streamline regulations for distance education programs – and also include important consumer protections to support interstate distance education students. All programs and institutions included in SARA Source are members of SARA.
“As a participant in SARA, NTU is committed to upholding high standards of student consumer protection and quality, particularly when offering distance education programs to students,” said Dr. Colleen Arviso, e-learning director at NTU.
“Students who utilize the SARA Source not only have access to an easy-to-use database of distance education courses available here at NTU as well as from institutions nationwide, but they can also be confident that the programs they’re considering are all offered by accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education,” she added. “We’re excited to have our programs in this terrific resource and hope it serves many students well.”
When browsing SARA Source, students will be able to use the search filters to narrow choices, select multiple programs for comparison, and print or e-mail results to share with others. Additionally, SARA Source users can easily view institution contact information to make direct inquiries about their programs of interest. >
Lori Williams, president and CEO of the National Council of State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) said, “We wanted to establish SARA Source to make things easier for students who are searching for quality distance education programs. There are a lot of resources out there that can create confusion for prospective students,” she continued.
The SARA Source is designed to serve as a one-stop-shop for those interested in exploring interstate distance education opportunities from institutions that participate in SARA.
“We hope SARA Source will become a preferred source of information about distance education programs offered by SARA-participating institutions for students around the country,” Dr. Williams said.
