Concepcion Vazquez is head of the information management systems branch in the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s Undersea Warfare Combat Systems Department. She is a founding member and co-lead of the Women in Science and Engineering network.
Currently, she manages 26 engineers, scientists, and technicians who provide software systems engineering, training, and logistics support for submarine and surveillance systems. She has led other teams in resolving fleet-related issues that involve hardware design and software investigations affecting guided-missile destroyers and guided-missile cruiser platforms.
As a volunteer with the Newport Educational Outreach Program, Vazquez led efforts in community outreach activities in 2019. She mentored high school students in the Rhode Island FIRST Robotics competition, providing leadership so students could design, build and test the robots for their respective competitions.
