CHCI announces 2019 R2L NextGen program

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) has announced that it will be hosting two R2L NextGen classes for high school students who want to learn about how government works. The programs will take place June 23-28, and July 14-19, 2019. Deadline for all applications is January 15, 2019.

According to the announcement, CHCI will bring a group of Latino high school students to Washington D.C. to learn about how the federal government works, meet key leaders, visit historic sites and develop a deeper understanding of how they can affect positive change in their communities and their nation.

CHCI’s R2L NextGen is a week-long leadership and civic engagement for high school sophomores and juniors. The program is FREE to all selected student participants.

Students in the following areas can now apply:

  • Atlanta, GA:   Fulton or DeKalb County
  • Central Florida: Orange or Osceola County
  • Chicago, IL: Cook County
  • Coachella Valley, CA: Riverside County
  • Dallas/Fort Worth, TX: Dallas or Tarrant County
  • Detroit, MI: Wayne County
  • New Jersey, NY: Essex, Hudson or Passaic County
  • New York City: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island
  • Phoenix, AZ: Maricopa County
  • Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico
  • San Antonio, TX: Bexar County
  • San Diego, CA: Imperial or San Diego County
  • San Jose, CA: Santa Clara County
  • South Florida: Miami Dade County or Broward County
  • Southern California: Los Angeles or Orange County
  • Washington D.C.: District of Columbia
  • Maryland: Montgomery or Prince George’s counties
  • Virginia: Alexandria City, Arlington, Fairfax, and Prince William counties
